Vikings Stay Undefeated With Win Over Packers

Posted on July 15th, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

Brett Favre has been a significant part of the Minnesota Vikings undefeated start the NFL regular season, and on Monday night he finally beat his old team, the Green Bay Packers. Favre passed for 271 yards and three touchdowns as the Vikings prevailed by a 30-23 final score. The Vikings improved to 4-0, while the Packers dropped to 2-2.

The Vikings rewarded NFL betting enthusiasts by covering the spread as -4 home favorites. Minnesota is now 3-1 against the number, while the Packers loss evened their ATS record on the season at 2-2.

Afterwards , Favre said that he didnt have any unusual emotions playing against his old team:

“I don’t know how to explain it. I felt right, but I guess I never thought I’d be in that situation.”

He had gone out of his way to downplay the significance of the matchup:

“My statement has been what I’ve done over my career. One game does not define my career good or bad. I know what I’ve done. I’m proud of what I’ve done. I know I can play. I wanted to do what it takes to win.”

Still, Favres teammate Adrian Peterson said that the team understood the games importance:

“I definitely wanted to get this win for Brett. He downplayed it all week, but I just knew it meant a lot to him. I could see it in his eyes.”

Packers cornerback Charles Woodson gave credit to Favre, but then admitted that his team didnt help themselves with their effort:

“I don’t think there was any question what he could do when he came back. But you know, we didn’t do ourselves any justice.”

Favres replacement under center in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers, had a rough night. He was sacked eight times and threw an interception, though put up decent numbers with 384 yards and two touchdowns but was still critical of his performance:

“Below my expectations, definitely. To have three possessions where you’re in their territory and come away with zero points, two of them are directly related to mistakes by myself, that’s disappointing.”

Vikings coach Brad Childress was impressed with Favre’s poise in the face of all the media focus on playing his former team:

“You don’t want quarterback crying coming out of the locker room. He was great.”

The Vikings will your head to St. Louis to play one of the NFLs worst teams this weekend, the St. Louis Rams. They’ll return home to host the Baltimore Ravens the following week before playing the Superbowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers on October 25th. The Packers will take this weekend off before hosting the Detroit Lions on October 18th. They’ll play at Cleveland the following Sunday before a return date with the Vikings at Lambeau Field on November 1st.

Why It Makes Perfect Sense To Hire Limousine In Sacramento

Posted on July 8th, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

There was a time when limousine in Sacramento is exclusive for the rich and the famous. That’s certainly not the case nowadays as there are many limo rental services around. And for an affordable price, you will have the luxury that was once only for the select few.

A limo service in Sacramento will definitely make your tour around town totally memorable. You’ll be treated to a dose of luxurious comfort while visiting several tourist attractions. Some notable places to visit in Sacramento includes a ride on the Sacramento River Train or you can get transported at another period in time with an Old Sacramento.

The good thing with hiring a limo is that you can go around town with no worries of getting lost. You are chauffeured so it’s interesting to get the chauffeur talking if you’re in the mood for some trivia information about Sacramento. Furthermore, you will be confined in comfort all throughout the whole trip. You can just take in the beauty of the surrounding or you may just have easy and fun conversation with your companions without hassles.

However, if price is a big consideration for you, I strongly suggest that you take the time to have the trip planned long before the actual date. There are certainly many companies offering limo services. You can give several companies a call or you can browse the internet to get their different price quotations. Be wise to contact several companies and compare their service and price before you decide on one.

Furthermore, on a side note, make sure you go and give the company a visit if your situation permits it. You wouldn’t want a limousine that’s completely different from the pictures you’ve looked at to show up on the day you need it. Yes, there are some unscrupulous people who do this. And it’s not a very pleasant experience to say in the least.

Additionally, ensure your safety on the road by hiring the services of a company that complies with the state mandated requirements. The state of California requires that vehicles should subjected to regular checks every 45 days and the chauffeur tested for drugs and trained for the job. The company is only issued a certificate from the Public Utilities Commission once they adhere to these regulation. So it would be to your interest that you ask for a copy of this certificate as well as proof of insurance coverage.

Lastly, you have to get the most accurate total amount possible from a representative of the company. Be aware of the miscellaneous and extra charges you could possibly incur. Some of these fees include driver’s fee, 20% gratuity and additional fees for extra stops or hours. You wouldn’t want to be billed way over than what you budgeted, so have these fees considered when asking for the total amount that you have to pay.

When you hire a limousine in Sacramento, you get along with it the necessary comfort that makes traveling more fun and enjoyable. But ultimately, you and your friends are still the one who makes the moments on the trip count.

Iron Chef: Japan’s Culinary Sensation Takes America By Storm

Posted on July 1st, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

The concept of the show is right out of professional wrestling, but there it is in living color every week on ‘The Food Network’. Prominent chefs from all over the world go ‘mano a mano’ in judged cooking competitions. That’s the premise of ‘Iron Chef’ which is easily the most entertaining cooking show in television history. Even non-foodies will enjoy the competition and the nearly inscrutable strangeness of the show.

The story behind the show goes something like this–there’s this rich dude, MC Kaga who summons the finest chefs in Japan to do battle in his kitchen stadium. Needless to say, a TV studio wouldn’t suffice for such a production: the kitchen stadium is in Kaga’s castle. Also in residence are three Iron Chefs, each representing a different type of cuisine (Chinese, French and Japanese). The summoned culinary challenger picks which Iron Chef he wants to take a crack at and the contest begins. The show was originally created by the Fuji TV network in the Japan, and the original Japanese title translates literally to The Iron Men of Cooking.

Adding even more ’spice’ to the show–each dish must include the ‘theme ingredient’ which is kept a mystery until immediately before the competition begins. With great pomp and amid smoke and pyrotechnics, Kaga reveals the ‘mystery ingredient’. Sometimes it’ll be something basic like apples or tofu, other times it’s more obscure like ox tail or some otherworldly shellfish.

The chefs then have an hour to prepare a seven-course meal to be served to a panel of what I presume to be mid-level Japanese celebrities. They rate and discuss each participants offering and pick a winner. At the end of the show with much fan fare Kaga reveals the winner. Its a great honor to beat one of the Iron Chefs, though its no easy feat.

The announcing is what makes the show. There’s a hysterical play by play announcer, an excitable color commentator, and an even more hyperactive sideline correspondent who will break in the commentary frequently with revelations such as observing that a chef is using fresh ginger in a dish or some similar piece of trivia. Apparently one of the announcers is a legit sumo wrestling announcer in Japan, making the strange connection between ‘Iron Chef’ and Japanese pro wrestling even more pronounced.

The dishes that are presented are always amazing and creative. Sometimes they might not be the most appetizing creations, but that’s to be expected when you have to make a desert with something like pickled carp as a theme ingredient. The creative process and the competition is what makes the show a must watch.

The Food Network now produces an American-ized version of the show entitled Iron Chef America. Despite the similar format, it pales in comparison to the original Fuji TV production.

Why Choose A Hotel Management Career

Posted on June 28th, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

Looking for a long term career that will help secure your future and teach skills that can be useful in a variety of environments? If so, you may be interested in a hotel management career. The skills you will gain through such a career include catering, organizing banquet events, and of course management. The business skills and people skills you can develop through this work are sure to serve you well even if you decide to do something else later.

In hotel and lodging management, there are numerous types of managing positions. The most obvious is a general manager. While a hotel chain or hotel owner may set the limits and conditions for the general manager’s authority, the responsibilities of that position can include price setting, setting standards for service, budget making and fund allocation to departments.

Another type is resident managers, who are distinguished from other managers because they live in the hotel. Living in a hotel is a very convenient and comfortable lifestyle, though a resident manager must be prepared for inconveniences at any time. While they typically have a forty hour work week, it is also their job to respond to emergencies at all hours of the night.

Front office managers take care of all matters related to the front desk, which includes check-ins, room assignments and making reservations. Some of their other duties include training the front desk staff, dealing with customer complaints, and making adjustments to bills when necessary.

Assistant managers are another possibility. It is the assistant manager’s job to help the resident and general manager with the hotel’s daily operation. Since there may be more than one of them, they will have various jobs pertaining to specific areas such as accounting, hiring, marketing, sales, paperwork, purchasing, maintenance, recreation facilities and security.

One of the high pressure but often rewarding positions is manager of convention services. It is not uncommon for hotels to host conferences, special events, and business or fan conventions. In this position, it would be your responsibility to communicate with the client company to arrange rooms and schedule conference rooms. Convention service managers are present at the event so that they can be physically available to solve any problems that may arise.

When working to acquire hotel managing jobs, experience and education are both assets. Many employers look specifically for higher education in hotel managing. Many colleges have programs through which you can acquire either a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in hotel management, and you can also find programs in restaurant or hotel management in vocational or technical schools. These programs typically cover food service, catering, marketing, accounting practices, billing, computer skills for making reservations, and housekeeping management.

With a managing hotels career, you can acquire numerous practical skills that will make you desirable in any area. From event planning to restaurant and business management, you will acquire universally useful experience and knowledge.

Nightlife In Dubai

Posted on June 26th, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

Dubai is one of the most popular destinations to travel to. However, you never really hear about the night life in Dubai and does it even exist? In the city of Dubai, you will actually find one of the most awesome clubs and bars in the world. In fact, its the only place where the designer Armani and Roberto Cavalli just opened their own night clubs.

Dubai at night is a whole new city. When the city lights up at night, its almost unrecognizable from what it was in the daytime. From world class bars such as the Buddah Bar and the biggest and most popular with the expats, Chi at the Lodge, Dubai has something to offer everyone. Ladies night are quite something as the Ladies love to go bar hopping drinking their free glasses of Moet from one bar to another. Good times indeed! Plus famous DJs and artists regularly stop by such as Tiesto, Armin Van Buren, Tiny Tempeh, Rod Stewart and so much more.

With acts such as Shaggy, Ferry Corsten, Shakira and much more making their annual trips to the city, the people of Dubai always have something to do at night. Most recently, it was the Armani club and Roberto Cavalli that made some serious buzz upon their respective openings. You can also hit the biggest club in Dubai known as Chi (Popular among expats) on Thursdays and Fridays for some guaranteed entertainment and world class live acts.

In Dubai, all the clubs have an age limit of over 21. Personally, I think the drinking age in all the clubs in the world should be over 25 but hey, that is just my opinion. Last but not least, only drink in designated areas and do not drink and drive at all costs. You shouldn’t be drinking and driving anywhere but in Dubai the fine is about $15,000, thirty days in jail and straight deportation. Yes they are pretty strict with alcohol control so be smart. Also note that all clubs and bars (That serve alcohol) are closed at 3am so no after parties in public places.

Besides the minor inconveniences, Dubai is a great place at night and its fused with the latest and hottest live acts. If you like to have a good time in a safe and clean environment where everything is big and luxurious, Dubai is the place to party.

Dubai is a phenomenal place to see and the perfect destination for the night life lover. Don’t forget to visit Nightclubs in Dubai and hope you enjoy Clubbing in Dubai.

The Island Of St. Thomas And What To See When You Are Visiting

Posted on June 23rd, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

If you are visiting the Caribbean any time soon, then hopefully you will have the fortune of visiting St Thomas. Part of the United States Virgin Islands, St. Thomas is one of my favorite destinations to visit. There are bunch of things to do while in St. Thomas, but here are some of the best.

If you are looking to golf while visiting St Thomas, then you should book a time at Mahogany Run Golf Course. This golf course is located on the north side of the island in an area called Mahogany Run and books up fast. So make sure you call ahead.

When in St Thomas, you must visit Magen’s Bay. Voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, Magen’s bay has the softest sand and clearest water of any beach on the island. Just pick up a 6 pack and some snacks, and post up for the day. If you need some substantial food while at the beach, there is a snack bar with burgers, pizza, etc.

Another great spot to visit is Udder Delight. They refer to themselves as “world famous,” which I can’t confirm or deny, but their shakes are fantastic. They have a multitude of ice cream flavors and their milkshake with coffee ice cream, Bailey’s and banana is a great way to end any day at the beach.

There are several great restaurants on the St. Thomas, but the award for best restaurant belongs to Thirteen. The almond crusted filet of fish I had here was exceptional. Indigo is another great restaurant on the island.

No trip to St Thomas would be complete without, ironically enough, leaving the island.

St John is the sister island of St Thomas and is quite different. While St. Thomas is relatively built up, St. John remains undeveloped. This is part of its charm. Visit Cinnamon Bay for some excellent snorkeling.

Another option while visiting St. Thomas is to rent a boat for the day. These boats come equipped with a captain and are the best way to experience the finer things of island life.

Choosing Your Next Travel Bag: What You Should Consider

Posted on June 22nd, 2010 in Lifestyle | No Comments »

When you are having a vacation trip or a business trip, you are definitely looking for the best way to pack and what travel luggage to use. Organized packing and comfortable luggage can relieve you of the stress in travelling. All you have to worry about are the things you will need to do. Unfortunately, not all can do this. Some are much unorganized in packing their needs while other can’t find the perfect travel luggage to use.

The first thing you should concentrate is in determining what type of traveler you are. What is your packing style? If organization is not one of your strongest skills, perhaps you should choose a travel luggage with lots of small bags inside. Do you fly often? Buy a tote for light travels.

Although most bags come with different designs and style, you must make it a point that you will not focus on these aspects. Instead, look into the materials used in the travel luggage, what is inside, if it rolls well and storage space. Keep in mind that when travelling, functionality comes first before any style.

The most common types of luggage you can find are wheeled luggage, duffel bags and backpacks. Have to carry all the things you need with you when you travel? Choose a backpack. Backpacks are made taking in consideration a tough usage and constant moving.

Wheeled travel luggage can be traditional and convertible. Most travelers like the ease in using traditional wheeled travel luggage since you can just stroll around the airport easily. On the other hand, others still prefer the convertible wheeled travel luggage since it combines wheels and backpacking.

There are two forms of duffel bags, the general purpose duffels and the expedition duffle bags. The first ones are for light travelers and the last ones for heavy travelling.

Do you already decide what type of travel luggage suits you? It is time to concentrate o the size of it. Choose a size enough large to accommodate all the things you need but keep in mind that you must still be able to carry it.

Other features you can look into are pockets, compartments, straps, expandable bags and removable storage.

Rooney Scores Twice As Manchester United Beats AC Milan In Champions League Play

Posted on June 20th, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

Manchester United is in good shape to advance to the Champions League soccer quarterfinals following a 3-2 win over AC Milan at the San Siro. The competition itself was overshadowed by the fact that it was the first time that David Beckham had played against his old team since leaving Old Trafford in 2003, and Wayne Rooney squashed Milan’s early hopes with two goals to put the game on ice. Clarance Seedorf scored at the 85 minute mark to make the score respectable, but Man U controlled play after the halftime break.

AC Milan got on the board first just three minutes into the game as Beckham set up Ronaldinho’s goal that sent the San Siro into a frenzy. Paul Scholes evened the score at the 36 minute mark and the teams went into the halftime break tied at 1-1. Rooney would net his first goal at the 66 minute mark and would score again just 8 minutes later to give Man U a 3-1 lead.

The 24 year old Rooney is becoming recognized as one of the best strikers in soccer. He’s now got 25 goals on the year with 19 games left to play. He’s also received high marks from the soccer press for his playmaking, heady play and overall attitude. The consensus is that he’s already one of the best in the world and is only getting better. He’s expected to be a valuable contributor to England’s World Cup effort this summer.

After the game, Beckham complimented Rooney on his play and suggested that he receive consideration for the World Player of the Year award:

“I hope he is a contender for the World Player of the Year and the Ballon D’Or. I would love to see him win every title possible. I have seen Wayne from being a young lad. I played in his debut for England and I have watched him score goals week in and week out ever since. It is amazing to see.”

“He looks after himself and works hard. The way he plays is the way he trains. That is why he is so good and why Wayne is ready for any game. It doesn’t matter how many games he has played or how many he will be involved in to the end of the season, he will be ready for anything.”

There’s a good chance that Beckham and Rooney will be teammates on England’s World Cup team this summer. Beckham made note of that fact:

“I wouldn’t want to see him do it again against us in a few weeks but of course I’d like it in the World Cup.”

Rooney’s sizzling play and Beckham’s veteran leadership and dominant free kicks are a big reason why England is among the World Cup betting favorites before the team has even been made official. England will start World Cup play on June 12 against the United States. England is a +600 choice to win the World Cup, third favorite behind Spain and Brazil.

Mexico Tops The United States In World Cup Soccer Qualifying

Posted on June 9th, 2010 in Entertainment | No Comments »

An early goal gave the United States soccer team hope, but in the end the result of their World Cup Qualifier against Mexico at Azteca Stadium was a familiar loss. Mexico rallied for a 2-1 triumph in front of their home fans, sending the US to defeat for the 23rd time in 24 games at the venue.

The United States quickly silenced the raucous crowd of 100,000+ with a goal by Charlie Davies just eight minutes into the game. It was the first time in history that the US soccer team led a match at Azteca Stadium.

Mexico would pull even just ten minutes later when Israel Castro beat US goaltender Tim Howard with a blistering shot off the crossbar. That set the stage for Miguel Sabah’s goal in the 82nd minute which gave Mexico the 2-1 victory. Mexico coach Javier Aguirre sounded both elated and relived with his post match comments:

“Today is a day to celebrate, drink a few tequilas, and then get back to work. Everybody will go to bed tonight a bit more relaxed.”

His American counterpart, Bob Bradley noted:

“I think it’s a tight game and a fair score. It’s tough loss to have so many guys work so hard and then give up a late goal. The feeling inside is one of great disappointment.”

US forward Landon Donovan spoke of his teams performance and the difficulty in playing at the high altitude:

“We did a good job starting the game well and scoring. They made one play at the end that made the difference. It’s hard to play here, man. It wears you out. It’s just exhausting.”

The Americans finish up qualifying on Oct 10 at Honduras and at home against Costa Rica on Oct. 14. Mexico will play at Costa Rica on Sept. 5 and host Honduras on Sept. 9. Mexico will wrap up qualifying on Oct. 10 at home with El Salvador and at Trinidad and Tobago on Oct. 14.
